Carbon Prices
Development of EUA & Secondary CERs
(Auszug aus dem greenmarket newsletter vom 12.04.2010)
CO2 prices were steadily rising last week. Starting with 12.90 €/EUA on the first trading day, EUA on the spot market were temporarily trading above 13.50 €/EUA on Friday. CER on the spot market were trading between 1.20 and 1.30 €/CER lower than EUA. Rising power prices could be the price driver for EUA. With higher power prices utilities enforce their power sales and thereby the hedging with EUA. On 6 April the European Commission sent a proposal for the Auctioning Regulation to the Member States. There are no details mentioned, how many EUA for 2013 - 2020 could be sold before 2013 and when the selling will start. This could lead to a further bullish note in the forthcoming weeks.
